Characteristic attributes that drive a fraudster's decision to adulterate a commodity are continously updated at defined intervals through numerous online websites and databases to support the best possible assessment of EMA vulnerabilities.

The potential threat of EMA can, in some sense, be characterized by three main types of drivers:

  • Economic Drivers - The potential for financial gain as a result of EMA
  • Ease Drivers - The ease of succeeding at EMA
  • Historical Drivers - The inclination towards EMA based on the culture of the region or industry segment
